These chocolate rose candy pops for Valentine’s Day are sweet and easy to make.
I’m kind of in love with these rose candy pops. They are so cute and easy with a mod feel. I used three colors of candy melts and lollipop sticks to make these. That’s it. Before we go further, I’ll discuss the “candy melts” vs “chocolate” thing. Candy melts mimic the taste and consistency of chocolate, although they are not actually chocolate. But they come in all kinds of awesome colors, they melt easily, they set quickly, and I love the taste. For these pros, I prefer to work with candy melts. If, however, you are a purist and prefer to use chocolate, you may instead melt white chocolate and tint the chocolate using oil-based candy colors (NOT regular food coloring). However, note that the chocolate will take longer to set (you can pop it in the refrigerator to set more quickly), and chocolate is hotter when it melts, so do not melt directly in the decorating bags, and use caution when handling the filled bags.
Now that we’ve taken care of candy melts vs. chocolate… let’s make some flowers.
how to make rose candy pops
you will need:*
- red candy melts, pink candy melts, and green candy melts
- disposable decorating bags
- lollipop sticks (6-inch and/or 8-inch)
*Find the above at the craft store. If you’d like to use white chocolate in place of the candy melts, see the first paragraph of this blog post for tips.
what to do:
Line a baking tray or trays with wax paper. Pour some red candy melts in a disposable decorating bag and melt in the microwave. Heat at 70 percent power for 90 seconds. Massage the bag and continue to microwave at 15 second intervals until melted. Snip about 3/8-inch from the tip. Pipe swirls on the tray and let set well (about 30 minutes).
Melt pink candy melts as you melted the red. Snip the tip and pipe a dot on a baking tray lined with wax paper. Rest a lollipop stick on top. Pipe a larger circle on top. Rest a red swirl on top of the circle. Let set.
Melt the green candy melts in a decorating bag. Snip the top and pipe a leaf on the tray. Place the lollipop with the rose on top. For extra security, add a bit more melted candy on top of the stick that is on the leaf.
Let set very well.
