Let’s talk apples. And this unseasonably warm weather we’re having in Washington DC. It’s hard to complain, as we had an unseasonably mild summer, but it’s time for crisp air, fire in the fireplace (or in our case, pellets in the stove), and jackets already. In an effort to call Fall to DC, I took the girls apple-picking last weekend. We go every year, usually to Homestead Farms in Poolesville MD. We got there first thing in the morning to beat the crowds and the hottest part of the day, but we were still decked out in summer gear. About 40 minutes outside DC, Homestead offers hay rides (sometimes), goats, chickens, pigs, and lots and lots of apple picking.
Also, astute readers might notice today is Thursday, not Wednesday. But sometimes in life, you have to do Wednesday’s chores on Thursday.
