Add some of the store-bought favorites and a few dollops of whipped cream to a jar , and you have a super-easy, crazy delicious, no-bake summer dessert: Ice box Oreo cake in a jar. 

With alllll the desserts I feature here on this blog, from decorated cookies to painted marshmallows and crazy cupcakes, my all-time favorite dessert? Ice box cake.

Growing up, my mom would always make the classic version of ice box cake, Nestle chocolate wafers with whipped cream sandwiched between, and put in the fridge until the cream turns the cookies into a cake-like texture.

Oreo cookies have a similar texture and taste as the chocolate wafers, so they make a perfect substitution, and turn into the best Oreo cake ever

Oh my word, I can’t believe how simple this is to make given how incredible it tastes.

And the little mason jars make handy-dandy serving containers. Combine that with the make-ahead thing, and this is the best dessert for summer parties.

how to make ice box Oreo cake in a jar

you will need:

• 12 Oreos
• 1 cup heavy whipping cream
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• spoonful of sugar (optional)
• disposable decorating bag
• 4 small, 8-ounce mason jars 

what to do:

In a standing mixer with a wire whip or with an electric handheld mixer, beat the whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Blend in the vanilla and a spoonful of sugar (if using). Scoop the whipped cream into a disposable decorating bag and twist the top to close. All of the whipped cream may not fit in the bag at once. Snip an inch off of the tip.

In a small jar, place an Oreo. Pipe a dollop of whipped cream on top. Repeat two more times. Refrigerate the jars overnight.

Makes 4 little jars. Recipe may be doubled.
