Small-batch chocolate chip cookies… in the air fryer! Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, one bowl to prepare. Scroll to the end for video and printable recipe.
Can you make cookies in the air fryer?
YES! You can. But only if you want cookies that are perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and made in minutes. Who knew air fryer cookies would be so delicious?
This recipe for small-batch chocolate chip cookies is made in one bowl, so it couldn’t be easier. No need to turn on the oven. Just let the super-fast hot air in your air fryer do the work.
Are all air fryers the same?
This one is a no. I have the 4 quart Nina Air Fryer, which is a small air fryer. Cooking times may also have quite a discrepancy between different sizes and brands, so be sure to check your cookies for doneness before the recommended times below.

small-batch chocolate chip cookie recipe
you will need:
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- large pinch of salt
- heaping 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chip cookies
what to do:
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars with an electric hand mixer or a standing mixer. Add the egg and vanilla and blend well. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and blend well.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
If you would like to bake in the oven, preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Drop cookie dough by tablespoonfuls on the tray, leaving a couple of inches in between. Bake until browned and edges are set, 10 to 12 minutes.
See below to bake in the air fryer.
how to make air fryer cookies
Set the air fryer to 325 degrees F and preheat for 3 minutes.
Spray coconut oil on the crisper plate and place cookie dough by tablespoonfuls on the crisper plate. Cookies should have a couple o inches between each other. I fit four balls of dough in my air fryer.
Set the air fryer for 10 minutes. Do not move or flip the cookies. Check the cookies periodically to avoid overcooking.
Cookies are done when well-browned and edges are firm, about 7 to 10 minutes.
Use an off-set spatula to carefully transfer the cookies to a baking rack to cool.
NOTE: Some cookie dough will fall through the crisper plate to the bottom of the air fryer. However, the dough will be quite crispy and easy to clean up (or eat it up!).

air fryer cookies video
NOTE: You’ll notice in the video I add only an egg yolk. Many small-batch chocolate chip cookies use just an egg yolk. I found the dough to be much too dry, so I added the egg white as well. This made the cookies perfect, in my view. So the recipe here calls for 1 large egg.

I don’t have an air fryer and I can’t get these cookies off my mind.
What other type can I use?

Hi! You can certainly bake the cookies in the oven! I recommend 375 degrees F. for about 10 minutes.

Love the idea of small batch baking in the Air Fryer! Will definitely give this recipe a try. Might even change it up with some dried cranberries and pecans.
