Quicker and easier to make than gingerbread cookies, try gingerbread man marshmallows for Christmas.
These cutie pies (and by “pies” I mean “marshmallows”) are just the right addition to your Christmas table. Or winter table. Or gingerbread table. Or whatever. Even though there isn’t any gingerbread in them. They were inspired by these gingerbread man cake pops at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I didn’t even know Bed, Bath and Beyond had a blog. I think it’s part of the “Beyond” part. They are pretty gosh darn adorable, huh?
Next I’ll have to make gingerbread house marshmallows to go with the gingerbread men.
how to make gingerbread man marshmallows
you will need:*
10 lollipop sticks
1 cup light brown candy melts (peanut butter flavor used here)
1 tablespoon shortening
white decorating icing with a small round tip
*Find the lollipop sticks, candy melts, candy eyes, sprinkle, icing and Styrofoam block in the craft store. You can also use your own white icing in a decorating bag with a size 2 tip. For tips on finding supplies, click HERE. See below for Links.
what to do:
Place about a cup of candy melts in a microwave-safe container with the shortening. Microwave for 90 seconds at 70 percent power. Stir and continue to microwave at 30 second, then 15 second, intervals until fully melted and smooth when well stirred. Dip the lollipop sticks into the melts and insert into the marshmallows. When set, dip the marshmallows into the candy melts, tap the stick on the side of the container to remove excess, and prop the marshmallow in the Styrofoam block. When the candy melts are still wet, add the candy eyes.
When the candy melts have full set, decorate. Add dabs of icing to confetti sprinkles to adhere as the rosy cheeks. Pipe a nose and mouth. Pipe squiggles on top of the marshmallows. Let dry.
