Delicious chocolate-covered grapes, a healthy snack or treat. These are perfect to serve at your New Year’s Eve party, too.
chocolate-covered grapes
I made and photographed these chocolate-covered grapes months ago for my wine club, but I thought they’d be perfect for New Year’s Eve.
If you’re going to eat your twelve grapes at midnight, might as well be chocolate covered.
And by the way, “wine club” is ten women who rotate houses to sample (lots of) wine and eat food. I highly recommend it.
Since we had already gone through a year of traditional tastings, I chose a fun theme. “Celebrity wine.” Which means I served wine from Sting, Dave Matthews, Fess Parker, Francis Ford Coppola, Gabrielle Union, Train, Nicky Minaj, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
(Results: Gabrielle Union’s was way too sweet for me, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s was way too expensive for the result. And the very clear winner was Sting. His Message in the Bottle wine from his winery in Italy, Il Palagio, was divine. I ended up ordering a case.)
So back to grapes. These grapes were also divine and perfect to serve with Sting’s wine. They are simply frozen grapes dunked in homemade magic shell. That’s it.
how to make chocolate-covered grapes
you will need:
50 to 60 grapes (I used red seedless grapes)
1 cup dark chocolate chips (or any preferred chocolate)
3 tablespoons coconut oil
what to do:
Wash and dry grapes. Place in a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze overnight.
Mix the chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe container and melt at 70 percent power for 45 seconds. Stir well and continue to microwave, if needed, at 15 second intervals until fully melted and smooth.
Line a baking tray with wax paper. Take the grapes from the freezer.
Toss one grape at a time into the chocolate. Remove with a fork, letting the chocolate drain, and place on the baking tray. Repeat with the rest of the grapes. The chocolate hardens quickly.

OMG, both of my kids are obsessed with grapes. They would think they had died and gone to heaven if I covered them in chocolate.
