Easy Christmas cupcakes, four ways with one tip! Simplify your holiday baking and decorating with these Christmas cupcake ideas.
Christmas cupcakes
‘Tis the season of doing too much and having too much to do! That’s why I like simple things. And these Christmas cupcakes (FOUR ways, no less) are simple. Four ideas, one tip. That’s it.
Here I use my favorite cupcake decorating tip, the 1M, to decorate the Christmas tree cupcakes, the snowman, the Rudolph, and the Santa hat cupcakes.

These Christmas cupcakes are easy to decorate.
Just tint your frosting any of the colors, pipe it on, and use sprinkles and candies to decorate. No need to decorate all of them if your time is short. Choose one or two of your favorites.
Christmas fun food ideas
The assortment of designs would look fantastic on a Christmas party dessert table, or bring them to school for a classroom holiday party (if you’re allowed, my girls’ school is treat-free, sigh).
Ooh, or do you have a Christmas birthday in the house? Then there you go. Need more easy Christmas treats?

how to decorate Christmas cupcakes four ways
you will need:
- cupcakes
- buttercream frosting* or bakery frosting
- food coloring (Red Red, Chocolate Brown**, Bright White, Leaf Green)
- size 1M decorator tip(s)
- disposable decorating bags
- assorted sprinkles and candies (candy eyes, white sprinkles, pretzels, cinnamon nonpareils, Mike and Ike’s…)
I much prefer making my own buttercream frosting for cupcakes (recipe half way down the page in the link).
However, you may use store-bought frosting. Cans of frosting may need to be thickened with powdered sugar so the frosting holds its shape when piped. I also really like this Wilton decorator’s icing (smaller tubs may be available in the craft store) for piping cupcakes, as it’s a great consistency.
**Instead of brown food coloring, you may add cocoa powder.
what to do:
Prepare frosting, divide, and tint red, white, brown, and green (or just the colors you need). Prepare frosting bags with the tips, fill with frosting, and close tightly with rubber bands.
Santa cupcakes
To decorate the Santa hat, pipe a ring of white around the edge of a cupcake and top with white sprinkles. Pipe a swirl of red in the center and tip with a dollop of white.
Rudolph cupcakes
For Rudolph, pipe a swirl of brown frosting. Top with candy eyes, a cinnamon nonpareil, and broken pretzels for antlers.
snowman cupcakes
To make the snowman, pipe a swirl of white frosting and add white sprinkle. Top with candy eyes and an orange Mike and Ike’s.
Christmas tree cupcakes
Pipe a swirl of green frosting. Top with a sprinkle star and nonpareil sprinkles. Hmm. Pretzel stick arms would’ve been wise here, huh? Next time.
