Lunch Box Ideas
It’s coming. Back to school. (Cue image of children crying and parents rejoicing.) Which means now is the time to think about lunch box ideas and some helpful snack hacks to make the mornings easier and lunch more fun. Now, when we’re full of energy and excitement for the kids to get back to school, as opposed to the end of the school year when you toss a bag of croutons in the lunch box and call it a day. Here are two clever ideas to pack Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks in lunch boxes, tote bags, back packs… It’s the perfect snack to add to your school day (or work day for moms and dads).
My kids are fans of all Welch’s snacks, and I am too. Not only are they made with real fruit, but they are fun to eat, and they are delicious. These Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks are a personal favorite. Made with real fruit and surrounded by creamy yogurt? Yes, please. And you can find these snacks at your local grocery store. Here are two easy ways to add these yummy snacks to your kids’ lunch boxes: First, turn a mason jar into a handy snack container just right for little hands. Next, make your own (oh my gosh so good) pack-able yogurt and granola parfait.
Mason Jar Snack Hack
I love mason jars! They are so versatile. You can turn a mason jar into a super-handy snack jar to toss in your purse when out with the kids, or to add to a lunch box.
You Will Need:
- 8-ounce mason jar
- empty orange juice or milk container with screw top opening, cleaned and dry
- pencil
- scissors
- Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks, Strawberry, Blueberry, and/or Cherry (0.8 oz pouches in a 8 count box)
What to Do:
Remove the top of the mason jar. Separate the lid from the ring. Cut open the orange juice container. Place the mason jar lid on the underside of the screw top opening and trace a circle with the pencil. Cut out the circle. Fill the mason jar with Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks. Place the screw top opening on the jar and secure with the mason jar ring. Now, kids can open the jar by the screw top all by themselves and shake out their fruit ‘n yogurt snacks.
Mason Jar Fruit and Yogurt Parfait
This fun mason jar hack lets kids mix up their own fruit and yogurt parfait at lunchtime.
You Will Need:
- 16-ounce wide-mouth mason jar
- empty and cleaned applesauce cup
- Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks, Strawberry, Blueberry, and/or Cherry (0.8 oz pouches in a 8 count box)
- vanilla or plain yogurt
- granola
- rubber band
- spoon
What to Do:
Fill the bottom of the mason jar with yogurt. Note that I’m using a wide-mouth mason jar here. Pour Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks and granola in the applesauce cup. Fit the cup at the top of the mason jar and put the lid in place. Attach a spoon to the side of the jar with a rubber band. Pack in a lunch box with an ice pack.
When the kids are ready for lunch, simply pour the granola and Welch’s Fruit n’ Yogurt Snacks into the mason jar filled with yogurt for a delicious, fruity parfait!
