You know, for health nuts who eat fruits and veggies.
These are almost exactly the same thing. Almost. But not really, huh? It’s important to eat fruits and veggies (cookies) every day. If you like these cookies, check out my vegetable garden cookies.
Still, I’m proud to say that while I won’t ever give up my wine and cheese and crackers, despite the content of my blog, I eat a good share of fruits and vegetables. I eat a lot of kale.
Dang, I forgot to make a kale cookie! Now I’m picturing a bowl full of kale cookies, like a cookie salad. Guess that’s for another post.
how to make bite-size fruit and veggie cookies
you will need:*
cookie dough
royal icing
1 1/2-inch circle cookie cutter
food coloring
disposable decorating bags
couplers
decorating tips, sizes “2” and “3”
rubber bands

*Find the cookie cutter, decorating bags, couplers and tips in the craft store. Or check out THIS POST on finding supplies. Or see below.
For food coloring, I suggest Americolor Soft Gel Pastes. Super Black, Bright White, Red Red, Orange, Egg Yellow, Regal Purple, Chocolate Brown, Leaf Green, Electric Green and Sky Blue are used here. You’ll only need the colors for the fruits and veggies you choose.

step one: bake your cookies.
Prepare cookie dough according to the recipe, chill it, roll it out, cut out your circles, bake and let cool.
step two: prepare your icing.
Prepare royal icing according to the recipe. Divide and mix whatever colors you are using. Prepare decorating bags with couplers and tips, fill with each color and close tightly with rubber bands.
step three: decorate your cookies.
Outline your fruits and veggies with black icing using a size “2” tip. Pipe back and forth to fill the fruits and veggies with size “3” tips. Let dry overnight before packaging or handling.
