doughnut art
What is “donut art” you may ask? Or, rather, doughnut art? It’s just me playing around with Microsoft Paint (update revisiting this post 8 years later, I now use Photoshop and I’m kind of cringing at these drawings).
The idea behind these doughnut artists came from two sources. First, THIS POSTER as found on CakeSpy. Second, a sketch somewhere online of silly, simple artist “renditions”. They were not sweets, I think they were smiley faces? Or stick figures? In black and white. I don’t remember what artists were represented, but I chose the biggies, so I’m sure there is crossover.
Salvador Dali
Leonardo DaVinci
Paul Cezanne
Claude Monet
Grant Wood
Roy Lichtenstein
Pablo Picasso
Vincent Van Gogh
Andy Warhol
(And in defense of cookies everywhere, I chose doughnuts over cookies because I thought I could do more with them and keep them recognizable. Sorry, cookie, maybe next time.)

I have the b&w smiley face sketch on a magnet… don't kow who did it but most museum gift shops have it. I think mine came from the Art Institute of Chicago. Love your doughnuts!

Love the Van Gogh. I would totally hang a food-inspired Starry Night print in my kitchen.

Ah, I knew it existed, thanks Doris! I keep googling everything I can think of, and still can't find the picture, but I'll keep hammering away.

You did those in PAINT???? I can't draw that well with photoshop!I too like the van Gogh one, and the Cezanne one on its little cloth. Maybe you should do them as actual donut cookies? ๐

LOVE the doughnut artists… I'm an art lover & my husband is a cop…this is pretty much a symbol of our opposite, yet integrated interests! ๐
