how to make flower pretzels
you will need:
- 36 mini pretzels
- 9 yellow candy melts
- 1/2 cup each of 3 other candy melt colors (pink, blue, and orange used here)
- Additional candy melts
- disposable decorating bags
- lollipop sticks OR paper straws (optional)
TIP: Choose any amount of colors you like, or save money and only choose one color.
what to do:
Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Arrange pretzels in groups of four on the tray.
Work with one color of candy melts at a time, blue, orange, OR pink. Melt about 1/2 cup of one color of candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl by microwaving at 70 percent power for 90 seconds. Stir, using the residual heat to melt the candy. If needed, microwave at additional 15-second intervals. Pour into a disposable decorating bag.
You may also melt the candy melts directly in the disposable decorating bag, as the candy melts at a low temperature and will not melt the bag. However, be sure not to overheat the candy.
Snip the tip of the bag. Pipe a circle on the tray and attach the pretzels in a ring around the circle. Pipe to fill each pretzel with the melted candy. Pipe another dollop in the center and place a whole, un-melted yellow candy melt on top.
Repeat with the other colors. You should have 3 flowers for each color, or 9 flowers total. Let set very well, about 1 hour.
If desired, prepare a bag with 1/4 cup melted candy melts in any color. Carefully flip a flower over. Pipe a bit of candy on the back and attach a lollipop stick or straw. Let set well.
