Jack O’ Lantern candy pops
Less than a month after making these easy emoji candy pops, I’m back using my new favorite tool, this silicone lollipop mold. This time: Jack O’ Lantern candy pops!
I used pretty much the exact same instructions as the emoji pops, but I added a green stem, courtesy of Mike and Ike’s.
The silicone mold makes it so easy to make any candy pops you like. I will note that I did NOT use the lollipop sticks that came with the mold. They are just too short for my liking. Instead, I used 6-inch lollipop sticks (available online or at the craft store).
The 6-inch sticks are a thicker diameter, so they don’t fit cozily in the mold, but they do fit if you press them down a bit.
candy melts vs. chocolate
I used orange candy melts here, but if you prefer to use chocolate, instead, melt white chocolate and stir in some drops of orange candy color.
Be sure to use the oil-based candy colors here and NOT standard liquid or paste food coloring! Those will seize the chocolate and make it a real mess.
This bug chocolate bark is a good example of where I colored white chocolate.

how to make Jack O’ Lantern candy pops
you will need
- 1 cup orange candy melts
- disposable decorating bags
- silicone lollipop mold
- 6-inch lollipop sticks (see note below)
- black candy color
- liner-size paint brush
- light corn syrup
- green Mike and Ike’s candy
- scissors
*Find all of the above in the craft store (the mold may not be available.) The mold comes with small lollipop sticks. I bought the 6-inch sticks because I like them better. They are a bit big for the mold, but still work.
what to do
Pour some orange candy melts (about 1/2 cup) into a disposable decorating bag.
Microwave at 70 percent power for 90 seconds. Massage the bag and continue to microwave, if needed, at 15 second intervals until the candy melts are almost melted.
Massage the bag to use the residual heat to completely melt the candy. You may also melt the candy in a microwave-safe bowl and pour into the bag. Snip the tip.
Pipe to fill the mold’s cavities (1/2 cup of candy melts will make six pops). Smack the mold against the counter a few times to be sure the candy fills the entire cavity.
Insert the lollipop sticks and turn a bit to coat. If you are not using the supplied sticks and using 6-inch lollipop sticks, you’ll have to jam them a bit to fit. Let set fully, at least 30 minutes.
Remove from the cavities and decorate! Use the liner brush to paint black candy color face designs. To adhere the stems, snip a green Mike and Ike’s candy, dip the bottom in light corn syrup, and attach to the top. Let set.
