mummy fruit

Halloween, kids, NEW blog post, other sweets, party

Attack of the mummy fruit! Wrap fruit like mummies for a healthy Halloween treat idea.

A Halloween party or lunch box treat for kids: Mummy fruit. Easy, healthy Halloween treat idea for kids or grown-ups. Great for classroom treats.

See? Not all of Halloween has to be about chocolate and candy. Sweet, sweet, delicious chocolate and candy. Fruit can dress up, too, into these bone-chilling, terrifying, straight-from-the-tomb mummies. Really, very scary. Ugh. Those dang googly-eyes are way too cute to be scary. And so beware, attack of the mummy fruit! Here’s a great idea for healthy Halloween party treats.

Geez Louise though, if you’re going to dress up the kids’ fruit for the lunch boxes or for a party table, make sure you give these only to older kids who understand that the gauze and eyeballs aren’t edible. Please. I have a toddler. I know what idiots they can be. They’d eat the whole mummy fruit.

To make this mummy fruit, I used apples, oranges and bananas here, but you can use any fruit you like. Pears, peaches…  Except grapes would probably be tough to do.

how to make mummy fruit

you will need:

roll of gauze
non-toxic tape
self-adhesive googly eyes, or googly eyes with non-toxic glue

what to do:

Wrap a piece of gauze around the fruit, securing with a small piece of tape if needed. Adhere eyes to the gauze at the front. And that’s pretty much it.
