Perhaps you’ve heard of Nick Malgieri: former Executive pastry chef of Windows on the World, author of too many cookbooks to count, winner of too many awards to count, current director of the baking program at the Institute of Culinary Education, has cooked on television with the likes of Julia Child and Martha Stewart… Best if you read the long and impressive biography HERE. See? And I got to meet him. Not only meet Mr. Malgieri, but have lunch with Mr. Malgieri. And while I can hope that such baking greatness and knowledge can float across a restaurant table, I’m pleased to have that (transportable) greatness and knowledge packaged between the covers of Mr. Malgieri’s latest book: bake! I went to the bookstore (actually, two bookstores, as the bookstore by my house has a pitiful cooking section) and bought you a copy, too. With my very own money. Strudel! It is a family recipe and reminds me of home. Beside that I love the smell of cinnamon that spreads through the house when I am baking it!

I like to bake applepie and almond cinnamoncookies, jammie!My children love me bake a "monchoutaart". Don't know the english word for it. It really isn't baking. I crunch cookies, called "Bastognekoeken". Add some melted butter to it. Put it in a baking***. Put it in the fridge to get cold and firm. Put some whipped cream and a young cheese cold Monchou together. Put this over the cookiebottum. Then finished it off with cherries on the top of the pie. I don't know if I have a favorite – I just love to bake: cookies, cake, bars/brownies, or even bread. I consider it kitchen therapy.

My favorite thing to bake is to take a cresant roll, put a piece of canned whole chili pepper on it, and a piece of mild cheddar cheese on that and then roll it up and bake as directed. I can make myself ill eating these things my grandmother taught me how to make.
