Cute little snowman ice cream jars are a super-easy winter dessert idea. Video how-tos included.
snowman ice cream jars
These cute-as-can-be mini snowman ice cream jars are making me want winter to last forever.
They are so easy to assemble and are the perfect little treat for a winter party or a winter birthday. (The mini size makes them just right for kids, too.)
Draw snowman faces on little jars with oil-based Sharpie markers, coat the inside of the jars with sprinkles, and add vanilla ice cream. That’s it!
Store in the freezer until ready to use. And with those markers you just bought, you can make a unicorn mug, too, or use them for rock painting. Find a video and detailed how-tos below.

how to make snowman ice cream jars
you will need:*
- mini 2-ounce mason jars
- oil-based Sharpie paint markers (orange and fine-point black)
- light corn syrup
- food-safe paint brush
- white sprinkles (I prefer Wilton white sparkling sugar)
- vanilla ice cream
- mini wood spoons (optional)
*Much of the above should be found at craft stores, but I added amazon links too.
what to do:
First, draw your snowman face. Shake the markers and test them first on a paper towel. When ready, draw the orange carrot noses first and let dry for 5 to 10 minutes. Add black details, eyes, and mouths and let dry.
(TIP: To make the jars dishwasher safe, place them in a cold oven and turn the oven to 350 degrees F. Cook for 30 minutes, turn off the oven and open the door to let it cool. I did not take the time to do this, and my jars were just fine hand-washed and left in the freezer without smudging.)
Next, coat the inside with white sprinkles. To do this, lightly brush light corn syrup on the inside of the jar, pour in a few pinches of sprinkles, and move around until the inside is coated. Overturn to remove excess.
Use a small ice cream scoop or spoon to fill the jars with vanilla ice cream. Top with the lids and store in the freezer until ready to use. Serve with little spoons.
