A sweet and salty snack for my fellow ’80s kids: EASY Pac Man pretzels! Scroll to the end for printable how-tos and video.
Pac Man pretzels
You all know I love the ’80s, right? Born in ’72, so my prime middle and high school years were filled with big hair, neon bracelets, and leg warmers. I also love the sweet and salty combination of chocolate-covered pretzels, and so these Pac Man pretzels were born. And they are super-easy to make.
Now, I grew up in an Intellivision family, which video game historians will know did NOT have Pac-Man. So I had to go to my friend’s house down the street who had Atari to master the game.

how to make Pac Man pretzels
Can I melt candy melts in a decorating bag?
Note in the instructions below, I suggest melting the candy melts in either a microwave-safe bowl or directly in the disposable decorating bag.
Whereas microwaving chocolate in a decorating bag doesn’t work well because it can melt the bag, candy melts melt at a lower temperature, so it does work. However, you can NOT overheat the candy melts or the bag will start to melt. To play it safe, you can melt in a bowl and transfer to the bag.
TIP: Find all of the supplies in the craft store or online.
You will need:
- yellow candy melts
- red candy melts
- orange candy melts
- blue candy melts
- purple candy melts (or pink)
- mini candy eyes
- disposable decorating bags
- mini pretzels
what to do:
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange mini pretzels on the tray.
Place about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of yellow candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl OR directly in the decorating bag. Heat at 70 percent power for 90 seconds. Stir or massage the bag until the candy is fully melted. If necessary, heat for an additional 15 seconds. Snip the tip of the bag.
Pipe to fill a pretzel with yellow for Pac Man.
Repeat with the next color of candy melts, melting only one color at a time. For the ghosts, arrange the pretzels upside down. Pipe to fill the pretzel but add an extra little “bump” in between the rounded edges so you have three “bumps” at the bottom. Immediately add candy eyes.
You should be able to pipe about ten pretzels with each color.
