Caramel apple grapes? What? The perfect pop of sweetness this fall.
caramel apple grapes
How can these be called caramel apple grapes with no apples? Because they’re supposed to look like mini, bite-size caramel apples. Grapes dipped in caramel and finely-chopped pecans are SO delicious.
I have a confession. I’ve never eaten a caramel apple. If I have, I’ve buried the memory, because candy apples give me anxiety. (Although I did make these caramel apple cookies.)
They look so unwieldy to eat without breaking a tooth. But caramel apple grapes? Easy peasy.
Another easy workaround? Caramel apple chip lollipops.
ideas for serving caramel grapes
These would be great as a fall party or Thanksgiving appetizer. Or even Halloween appetizers or treats. The tiny treats fit into tiny hands nicely, so make them as an after-school snack with the kids.
ingredients and supplies you’ll need
GRAPES
Grapes of course. You may use red or green seedless. Try and choose grapes on the large side. Wash and dry grapes well.
KRAFT CARAMELS
Kraft caramels are these little squares are magic. No need to make your own caramels.
FINELY CHOPPED PECANS
I purchased finely chopped pecans, but you may use any of your favorite nuts.
TOOTHPICKS or COCKTAIL PICKS
Here, I used 4-inch toothpicks. I used heavy-duty scissors to cut off one pointed end for safety. If you can find cocktail picks, even better, because one end will be smooth.
WHAT TO DO
gather your ingredients and tools:
-
- 15 grapes
- 2 to 3 ounces (about 3/4 cup or 16 candies) toothpicks or cocktail picks
wash and skewer the grapes
Make sure to dry the grapes very well. Insert a cocktail pick into each grape. Set aside on a baking tray lined with wax paper.
melt the caramels
Place the unwrapped caramels and water in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat on high for 1 minute.
Stir, using the residual heat to fully melt the candy. If necessary, microwave for an additional 15 seconds.
dip your grapes
Pour the pecans in a small bowl.
Holding the cocktail pick, dip a grape into the caramel and immediately dip into the nuts. Place on the baking tray to set, about one hour.
TIP:
If the toothpick slides out of the grape, hold the grape on its side and use a small spoon to pour caramel over the grape.

I wanted to know what the 2 teaspoons of water is for? It can’t be to wash the grapes because you use more than 2 teaspoons for every 5 grapes.

Apologies Gloria! You found a typo! The water is added with the caramels to help with the consistency. Thank you for the catch!
